New Starters

At Oxclose Community Nursery school we want your child’s experience of starting school to be a really supportive and happy process.

As part of your child’s transition into school we will contact you to arrange a home visit.

Home visits provide us with the opportunity to meet your family in a relaxed and familiar environment. As part of this process we will complete admission information, as well as providing a ‘getting to know you’ pack for you to complete, so that we can gain a clear picture about likes and interests your child has currently, which will then inform our planning.

Your child will be allocated a key worker who will be your first point of contact should you require any support.

After your home visit session, you will then be invited into school for their first visit. This will last no longer than an hour and will differ from one child to another. We will then work with you and your child to ensure that your child accesses their learning as quickly and as smoothly as possible.

We have three intakes throughout the academic year. If you would like to find out more information, please contact us via the school office.
